News - COPS Sue the MOM for being Injured in line of Duty!!! Son battled officers; now mom fights suit - sacbee.com

advertisement

Last year a 34 year old man that lived with his parents in the El Dorado foothills just east of Sacramento, wouldn't seek mental health help, kills his dad. Police come, he shoots at them. The police officers fire back and kill him. Now the mother has lost her husband of many decades, and her son. And two of the police officers are out to sue HER for 4 million each for a total of 8 million dollars for their injuries suffered in the line of duty. It makes you wonder. What are the police paid to do? They get a pay check each month, they have benefits, medical etc...Are they really ready now to sue people when they get injured while in the line of duty? What does this mean for the average person? Will we think twice about calling a cop? This opens up a major can of worms. Judging by the online comments the local residents seem to be siding with the mother on this.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Hi all, this is my first seed article, please bear with me while I navigate the waters, or tendrils of this vine, would be more accurate. Am open to positive advice, even negative advice given in a positive manner.

I was going to do the article on the new wind farm going up in nearby Rio Vista, but his seemed a little bit more pressing.

Has anything like this happened elsewhere? OR as usual 'whatever happens in California, so goes the nation'?

I find this disturbing. In your mind, do the Law Enforcement officers have the right to sue people for being injured in the line of duty?

dcstone. Make sure Digits reads' this. I'll e-mail her and tell her. How dare those scumbag coppers. They killed her son and it's her fault! These mongrels are getting lazier and lazier by the day. Oh and what about all the people they beat, taser and kill? Perhaps people should start really fighting back and suing the police for EVERY illegal activity. Thanks for the read dc. Shame it was on a sad note though. P.S. I posted The Dancer. So check it out when you find the time my friend. Stay safe. P.S. Click onto Digits site.. She'd love to have you as a friend. She shares the same views as you and I. And join her taser watchlist when you get the chance.

Thank you Sedekka, I will look up the others as soon as I can. Have 'visiting' to do today.

But, yes, it is amazing that these two officers can try to sue this woman. She has nothing near that value in land, or property and being as old as she is any future income as a hospice worker. We all know that is almost a volunteer type of work, no one I know is rich working in a hospice. It makes me wonder just what sort of humiliation these two received. Perhaps a reprimand by their supervisor for such a stupid why to handle a situation? I really don't know.

dcstone. I had the cops on my doorstep early this morning. I'll tell you about it in an e-mail later. Suffice to say when I found out what had happened to the poor bloke who lived upstairs I was disgusted by the way these bastards were carrying on. No. I'm furious!!! The bloke's dead by the way. No not police brutality. Police insensitivity. Which one is worse?

Just linked on and saw your comment. I'll e-mail you tomorrow. I told ron about it. But I learnt more from one of the poor blokes who lived in the unit. P.S. Actually I told ron about it as it was unfolding while we were e-mailing each other. I saw an e-mail from him just after the cops knocked on my door. And answered. Then it went on and on. And what made it worse. The damn coppers came back. But from what one of the bloke's upstairs told me. Something completely different. Go figure! I'll e-mail you tomorrow.
