During a city meeting there was standing room only for a decision on whether the City of Elk Grove will allow the Catholic Diocese to build a new 966-seat church along Bradley Road.
City Attorney, Jennifere Alves, says the church doesn't fit within the city's general plan...
"This isn't a religious issue. The City of Elk Grove certainly welcomes all people of all religions," says Alves.
The issue is the farmland, and the city report says a big church does not belong on the land.
